Sunroof drains

Post by alan996 » Fri Apr 21, 2017 5:07 pm

Wonderful rain the last few days meant a bit of a leak from the driver side sunroof side

I think the drain is blocked but i have no idea where it exits. There's lots of talk about squeezing and opening the exit. But for the life of me i cant find where the exit is.

I tried a strimmer cable down the drain from the roof end but no joy - tried both driver and passenger side but it didn't go down more than 6 inches (maybe it's too thick a cable)

Anyone got any pictures or directions as to where the front sunroof drains exit ??

I do believe the drain is located under the chassis near the driver and passenger side doors.
I've herd compressed air does the trick.  I  was going to try it but my roof is stuck closed!

And that's my problem.. I can't see them - it's all jacking points and a massive sea of black plastic.

I need a treasure map :)

I had a Passat with blocked drains, the fault was actually at the drain end as the rubber exit has a flap to stop muck going up, the exits were in the A post.

Compressed air on the Passat was not recommended as it blew the rubber drain tube of the drain and then you were buggered!

Had same issue few months back. Tried compressed air but still blocked. Got garage to take A pillar trim off and they found kink in drain tube. Unkinked and straightened tube, flushed with water to ensure drained correctly before reassembling.
