Looking in the boot the other day I noticed there's no F handle.
Im just wondering do I need one and is there any other way to release the handbrake when there is no power.

Think it's done from underneath on yours, not from inside , so no need for the tool.
X5 Sport will know for definite

They stopped supplying them in mid-2011 when the emergency transmission park pawl release was removed from the transmission tunnel under the left hand drinks holder. That can now only be done from underneath as Horizon states.
The handbrake can be released with the screwdriver (I think but have never needed to find out) from the cubby in the boot.
You can still buy them though.
