Groan and creak

Post by Dessie » Sun Apr 16, 2017 10:18 pm

Hi, last year I had a groan from the N/S when turning to park. I got my son to slightly turn the wheels just on and off of full lock and it sounded like there was a donkey under the car.
I changed the anti roll bar bushes (decent ones) and peace was restored.
The other day the donkey returned but is now living on the O/S. I did a run to Nottingham from Glasgow last weekend and I now also have a nice creak as I travel along.
Reminds me of the truck at the Kilamanjaro Safari in Animal Kingdom  :D
I will get a look at the ARBs again but if anyone has any suggestions as to why they should to be so noisy again or anything else it may be I would be grateful.

It will probably be one of the ball joints that connects to the hub. Most likely the most rearward one as that pivots the most when steering.

Thanks, I'll have look at that. It's gone quiet again but if I go over a plastic type speed bump a bit lively there is defo a bit of a thud from the drivers side. OK if your gentle though.

My ex wife used to "groan-&-creak" ..... all the damned time.
9 yrs ago she divorced me & suddenly all the terrible noises in my beloved X5 ceased Instantly...

It was amaizing at how simple the fix was. :))

Well MEN,
it would seem obvious, that the route to relaxing motoring in our beloved machines is...

to motor ALONE in the tranquility of X5 comfort & the serene silence of leather clad interior, without wailing female passengers.

The purr of a 6 or 8 pot engine, is far far nicer than the squawking & bellowing emitted from the fairer sex at every in-opportune moment..... when we need it least.

Car or Woman ???

Car wins every time for me...  :))  O:-)
