Space saver

Post by gmc15 » Mon Apr 03, 2017 9:22 pm

I have 20" wheels on my X5. The space saver wheel kits I have been looking at are 18". Does anyome know if they are suitable to go on my car with 20" wheels in an emergency?

This is the one I am looking at.

Hi should be ok but better checking with a dealer , they usually ask for a vin number to make 100% sure .
Hopefully you don't have seven seats ? No room in the boot .

Realoem has a match against that part number for the E70 & E71......5 seater ONLY as Sid suggests.

Thanks. My car is only a 5 seater so will be OK. I will contact Cotswold BMW for a price.

I bought one 3 years ago when I fitted non run flats to my 20's.
18's, 19's, 20's and 21's will all have roughly the same rolling radius due to tyre profile's, so far I haven't had to use my space saver but there is probably a 50mph limit on it.

If it is a different size to the normal fitted wheels/tyres - and the space saver certainly is - then it is a mandatory 'do not exceed 50mph/80kph' limit.  if it is anything like the last space saver I had, there is very little tread on it too.

I bought one of these new from Sytner for my E70 X5. I have now sold the car and am looking to sell the wheel - it's never been used. Feel free to contact me if you're interested.
