I'll try to find something.  They were MTEC 35W H8 HID lookalike or something similar - and it was 7 years ago  :(

I've spent a small fortune on several makes & types of LED set up, to plug into the original fitment of the E53 ring light illumination...
The bottom line is that the design is weak & will never achieve what the newer cars look like.
The modern BMW vehicles have either a much bigger light guide or an LED ring that is effective.

I made the decision to remove my head lamp units, cut the lens covers off the vehicle & will fit the high intensity HALO LED rings at some point in the summer when I a sure of a few nice hot/dry days...
...
even cheap HALO LED rings look much better than the 2000>2006 OEM fitted units with the light guide.

I found some LED HALO rings on E-bay for about £30 that are so bright & quoted as 60 watts per ring x 4, that you could drive at night easily with them alone...
So,
when Hot days in May arrive, lights out, HALO's in & decent rings fitted.... and a pelasant day fiddling in the sunshine...  Yay

Damn all these bulbs are expensive and we are not sure if they'd look like the newer cars so I just went ahead and bought the normal yellow bulb and even that was £31 from eurocarparts.

Could have got the Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited for that money.
I'm pleased with the outcome with mine.

I thought MTEC bulbs were really the only option to get the white led. Although they are a bit pricey. This is the official site in the states but they can be bought here easy enough - http://www.mteclightingusa.com/product_ ... v3-e60.htm

The Night-Breaker modification is better, but like mine they don't seem amazing or even vaguely dazzling :-(

For £30+ of fancy LED's, they just don't deliver.

When the weather gets better, I'm going to cut open my headlamps & fit some soopa-doopa bright halo rings & do away with the factory fit bits altogether me thinks.

Seems it is a bit of a mine field as always for LED bulbs. So many overstating the products they sell and not enough delivering as normal  :(

Hi Bo88in,

Agreed, any one would think these ebay product advert will answer your dreams, & illuminate the galaxy for our hard-earned £$35.... when they are generally Bloody Useless.
