Reversing camera fault

Post by Welshman » Mon Mar 20, 2017 8:20 pm

Hi
Has anyone has an issue with the reversing camera coming on while driving, I have an xtrons stereo unit which has been in my 2005 E53 x5 for over 12 months with no issues. Recently while the radio is playing when driving it goes off and goes into rear sight camera mode, when I brake the radio comes back on.  I have checked all the wiring at the back of the radio and shook the radio with the engine on, moving the stick to drive reverse and park. Sometimes the camera is on in park, but nothing that I can put my finger on.
If anyone has a schematic for the reversing circuit or any ideas it would be appreciated
John

reversing cameras are usually retro fitted by owners. so a wiring diagram wouldn't necessarily match yours.
have a look under the boot floor as the wiring should connect to the video module near the battery. it could be a bad connection around there.

Thanks, i dont have a camera fitted its just the reversing screen comes on, this will have a connection linked to the reverse on the stick somewhere but not sure if its radio or car related as an error
