Nasty Vibration at Idle
Hi all. First time poster here with a problem. I have a 2008 E70 3.0SD and at idle I have a real nasty vibration. Soon as I set off and during normal driving it goes away. Soon as I stop at the lights/junction etc it comes back. I can feel it in the pedals, mainly through the steering wheel and through the seat of my pants. BMW (purely relying on their diagnostic machine and nothing else...of course) insist there it is a glow plug issue but I have no warning messages, no cold starting issues, no smoke on start up or during (even quite spirited) acceleration and certainly have no loss of power. The car drives exactly like it should and still pulls like a train. I am no expert but not convinced a glow plug issue would come & go like it does. Somebody has suggested engine mounts being at fault but I'd like to confirm before I commit to a hefty glow plug repair first. Any ideas?

Re: Nasty Vibration at Idle
It's not your glow plugs, last week I changed the glow plugs and controller on our 57 3.0d but they haven't worked for the first 3 years we have owned the car and to be honest the car drive fine anyway.

Get it looked at to see if there are any fault codes being recorded. Glowplugs only work for a few seconds to get the car started on cold mornings, after that they are off. A DPF regen uses them but only once the engine has fully warmed up.
