Re: 7 digit postcode
There is no such thing as "legal" BMW maps that allow entry of 7 digit codes. I suspect you bought one of those pirated copies which we can not discuss on the forum.
You are welcome to PM me if you would like to discuss.

Re: 7 digit postcode
I guess this will become more and more common as the price of a disc update is now so ridiculous ........ Very shortsighted indeed of BMW, but I guess they couldn't actually care less whether clients are happy with paying £200 for an update to their original satnav disc....they have you over a barrel and can charge any stupid price they like for it.

Re: 7 digit postcode
But then again..............it's BMW after all and they expect their customers to pay though the nose. You pay a premuim for a Premium car, hence Breaks My Wallet being another version of the acronym.
The cost of updating the CIC system maps is much higher, and you lose the car for a day whilst the dealer does it. No other way currently.
The website mentioned is defo not legit maps though.

Re: 7 digit postcode
You can update a cic system yourself, you buy a kit from the dealer with the data on a USB stick that you can use for any purpose after you have installed the data and they will supply an enable code to go with it which is in fact the purchase of the license agreement for the data from the company who produce the map data.
The kit comes with instructions and you can install it yourself, enquire at the dealer with your chassis number for costs . The USB method is only for the later models with cic and no map DVD drive.
Hope this helps

Re: 7 digit postcode
Interesting. When I asked they told me it was £22 for the map, £185 for the licence and they needed the car for the day as it had to be plugged into a network connection. I will ask parts in future, or another dealer. The X6 has the latest 80GB hard disk based system. The DVD drive is for movies
