downgrade MKIV satnav

Post by neilbm » Mon Mar 13, 2017 6:52 pm

does anyone know if it's safe to downgrade the satnav?

I've a "High" MKIV system in the trunk and have got version 4-1/01 displayed on the computer, which I believe is v32.1 customized version

I have got hold of a copy of V32 software but am wondering if it's safe to downgrade to V32 from what I have? anyone?

Glad it went OK.  The only real worry is if the firmware disc is a poor quality copy (unless you have sourced an OEM one) as these drives can be fussy about the discs they are fed.  Rarely, but it does happen, the drive 'bricks' and getting it to recover can be painful.

Copy discs have this issue.  Genuine discs don't have speed cameras on them, or didn't have.  Have you checked the software version number to make sure it is correct?

That is non OEM software - as said the BMW system disc does not have camera alerts. And the French language change is a well known issue.

Get a proper disc - non OEM software cannot be discussed on here, its against forum rules.

The numbers match the last official version but the disc you have may have added new voice/function files from a 'modified' batch file.  Whether you can get rid of that bit once installed is unknown, but try a genuine map data disc and see if it disappears again.

If you are getting French with Speed Cameras off then it's a modded disc.  Something to do with the way the voice files have been coded.

Your BMW Dealer may know how to factory reset the firmware and then bring it up to Version 32....the last official release.
