What now? Changing time again? help please

Post by mavg » Mon Mar 06, 2017 9:03 pm

Hi all

So only very recently took delivery of a 16 plate 40d msport (5k miles). Now my dealer (whom I bought several different cars within the last few years) approached me for a deal. Is it worth it?

Option 1)

Straight swap of my 40d with a brand new 25d with same spec - pan roof, 7 seats - as an add-on it would have msport comfort seats and HK sound system. Car would be order to my spec, but if I keep to these options would be straight swap - delivery probably in September and I keep my car in the meantime.

Option 2)
Pay an extra £4k and get a very high spec Audi Q7 S-line 212hp engine - to include audi cockpit, pan roof, bose system, rev camera, side boards, flat bottom steering wheel - delivery also likely september and can keep mine until then

Option 3)
Pay an extra £5k and get the exact same as mine but add the HK system - benefit is the new idrive that seems betters than mine

Lastly
Option 4)
Pay £4k and get a very top spec Macan S - to include xenon, pan roof, rev camera, heated seats, 18 memory seat, etc

So...decision time

What is making me think it is a good deal is that the X is changing model soon hence bad for residuals?

If it were you, would you do any of these or just keep the current vehicle?

Thanks in advance

(ps my car only does about 3-5k miles per year, as weekend and holiday vehicle with the i3 as a daily driver)

Or option 5)

Keep a perfectly good 40d and save your money?

I would stay put to be honest.

In that case....

The Macan if its the petrol S, but not if its the soot chucker S.

Otherwise, as said above, keep what you've got until the next gen X5 is out at end of next year, or the new X3 is out at the end of this year (seeing as you're willing to go smaller with a Macan?)

I'd keep what you've got. You dont use it often and when you do you'll want the 40d performance not the 25d. Macan  is a smaller car - and I'm assuming that if you wanted a smaller car you would have bought one? I dont like the audis and they depreciate badly too i believe. Finally 5k to get the updated speakers and I drive isnt worth it.

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end

I had the Macan S (Diesel) as a loan car, and that was horrible. It is missing the turbo so at roundabouts you are stranded without any power low down. Actually quite a horrible experience.

Petrol a different story of course, but it does feel like a small car though.

I know this may not be popular but I can only reflect my own experience. I changed my 40d X5 for a new X4 and have to say it was a big mistake! There is nothing wrong with the X4 but it is not an X5, I looked at the Macan but at that time it was 18 month delivery so not in the running. I have lasted two years before ordering a new X5, and (loosing a shed load of money)

I would stick with your 40d, as soon as you upgrade for better Idrive etc, a new update will be added to new cars and you are back to looking to change again.
