Hi there
I recently bought a BMW X3 xdrive M Sport Auto 2012 from a dealer. The spec on the advert stated 'Bluetooth Telephone preparation'. However, it would appear that the car doesn't have Bluetooth, with nothing on the idrive and not pairing with my phone. I had assumed ' Bluetooth Telephone preparation' meant the car was Bluetooth enable. Can anyone advise if that is the case?
Secondly, what are my options for going back to the dealer and for getting Bluetooth installed?
I assume it is expensive to get it retrofitted?
any advice would be appreciated
thanks
Rob

X3 - Bluetooth
Re: X3 - Bluetooth
Hi and welcome to the forum, use the last 7 digits of your VIN number and type it in to BMW Vin decoder on google, this will give you the build spec of your car. Look down the list and see if it's got Bluetooth phone prep

Re: X3 - Bluetooth
Hi thanks for getting back. I checked and Bluetooth isn't listed on the spec, even though it was advertised with bluetooth. I assume my options are 1) go back to the dealer and see what they can offer, 2) do it myself?
Re: X3 - Bluetooth
Dealer won't fit it but you have a case under trade descriptions for false advertising.
Your only real option - other than rejecting the car - is something like a Parrot system.
The cost of the Bluetooth hardware installation will be more than the Dealer is likely to bear, and they will have known it wasn't fitted by doing just what you have only in their official system. Realoem does not list an official retrofit kit, and that being the case BMW Dealers can't do anything to help as they are not allowed to.

Re: X3 - Bluetooth
+1 on the Parrot, I've had a few in cars and vans over the years, push them for one that can stream music through the car speakers too.

Re: X3 - Bluetooth
thanks for the advice. I will speak to the dealer. As you say its wither reject car or seek some type of compensation. Can the parrot be set up so that I can use the telephone buttons on the steering wheel?
cheers
