BMW X3 e83 2004 2.5i H7 bulb holder plastic holder

Post by Ldee247 » Fri Mar 03, 2017 5:10 am

Hi all,

I bought a BMW X3 e83 2004 2.5i last year up until yesterday a warning light came up on the dash showing one of the bulbs on drivers side had blown off. Anyway I removed the washer tank reservoir opened the back cover for headlight only to realise the previous owner I assume he did a cowboy builders botched job by securing the bulb with silver gum tap.
I tried to put a camera down there and it looks the holder fell out or was never replaced.

Can anyone help me with the correct type of the bulb holder replacement clip that can secure the bulb into position. I have tried googling online but there's is a lot of different types and I'm not sure which is the right one. Below are similar image I think what it might look like:

The other image below shows the HID itself and on that image mine is missing the black round ceramic plastic at the back of that HID shown here:

Any help I would really appreciate it,thanks in advance ....

Does your car have H7 bulbs or Xenon?

If H7 there is no actual holder as such, they just clip into the fixing hole.

Hi,

Thank for prompt reply, my car has H7 bulbs

The fixing hole there's nothing at all that can secure the bulb into place. Here is an example image of what I'm talking about shown in the image pointed in red arrows:

So you do not have the fixing tabs highlighted in red?

Unfortunately I think you will need to find a damaged/2nd hand light unit and remove it, if possible and fit to yours.

Well I have had a look again this time using a camera phone I have taken the actual image of the headlamp inside where the clip is missing. The passengers side headlamp has a round black clip where as the drivers side doesn't.

According to the other findings online I think that black round thing can be replaced. Herewith below are the images of my actual car headlamp inside for both sides:
