inactive air suspension

Post by x5e53 » Tue Feb 21, 2017 5:33 am

Hi,

I think the air suspension bag on my relative's 4.8is 2006 has gone.
All other corners pump up, except the drivers side.
It pumps up, but then a hissing sound can be heard, and it lowers on that 1 side.

would the airbag part number be: 37116761444 ?
Seems very expensive.

would the following be ok:

is there anything else that needs changing (recommended)?

Is it deffo the bag and not a hose/pipe/connection? Might be worth a look before splashing out on a new bag.

spray water on the bag and pipe while it's inflated then watch for the bubbles while it deflates

Ok, is defo the bag. Can someone recommend a front  passenger side and front driver side bag?
Ideally i just want to get the part, take it to the local garage and tell them to swap the bags over.

Or is it wiser to install coilovers such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221990321080

Then would i simply need to deactivate the active air suspension using bmw scanner?

Those look good. Assuming a DIYer could change the air bags over?

I've done them on an audi allroad ..... only advice i'd give is pull the fuse or relay to stop the pump going (not sure if it needs the key in the ignition on the x5 it didnt on the allroad)
apart from that its pretty easy
