Your as well hanging out for ticks in all the boxes, retrofitting is expensive and examples are plentiful.

Re The handling, you should consider putting self levelling suspension on the list, works in tandem with the xdrive of the 4.0d and allows for flat cornering, little lean / Body roll & provides saloon like handling.
I'm still surprised at the abuse I can throw into cornering with little body roll, checking the specs of the car you test drove will confirm fitment.

I take it that's not the same as the "active drive?" Do 7 seaters not come with self-levelling? I know it was std with Nivomats on our XC90's.

I believe your correct, all 7 seaters  did come with it and it's relatively rare on the 5 seaters (or at least was an option on the 5 seater)

The BMW system is dynamic drive, this gives active anti roll bars to stop the body roll, the self levelling suspension does a good job of imitating this system allbeit it's the air springs on the rear that's doing the work as opposed to an active & complex hydraulic system.

Self levelling was standard on certain trims and if a tow bar was fitted I believe.

There are two types of High Beam assist.  The clever one is only fitted to cars with full LED lighting.  The cheap version just flicks main beam on and off.

The two things that stand out for me are

Heated seats. Once you've had them, you never go back!  I did think they would be std on x5s but apparently not.

Non msport suspension. This really helps the ride if on 20 inch runflat and still handles great.  Either that or ditch the rf and/or get smaller wheels.

The exterior lighting pack is nice.

Pan roof I love but very much a personal choice and £££££ if it goes wrong

Folding mirrors and rear camera useful.

Soft close doors / boot or closing boot seem pretty ott IMHO

If you get 7 seat it's rear air suspension and no room for a spare if you ever wanted to carry one (if ditching rfs)

Try a few cars and get a feel.  They are all quite different. The vin options checker is great.  Lots of things I never knew the car had.

Good luck
John

Must haves:

Long legs so you can get in and out comfortably and without getting the back of your trousers filthy :D

Some have said comfort seats, don't bother, they are a pain in the neck, you can NEVER get it just right, too many adjustments. I jest, but, they are very nice.

Comfort access is lovely.

Head up display is also great, rarely look at the dials now.

Be grateful you get all 4 wheels!  BMW want to charge extra for absolutely everything they can get away with!

As an aside I have begun to see more and more manufacturers dropping electrical load items (along with a free spare wheel) to keep the engine emissions down.

S7M5 M Exterior equipment

Ticks most of my boxes, plus it has a towbar and the upgraded towing pack, which I believe includes an extra radiator and is stupidly expensive?

Only fly in the ointment is the Nevada Leather, which I quite like the look of, but with Titan Silver? Good or bad?

Hello and :hi:

Increased towing capacity does indeed mean an extra rad etc, and was OK if ordered with the car, but jaw-dropping for post-sale fitting!

Nevada leather looks OK.  I have seen much much worse combinations.

It's a good spec too  :)

Very good spec. More or less like ours except it has the USB/Audio interface which is a good option and DAB. Personally, if I was looking to buy, this would be the one.

Looks like I'm getting somewhere then!

One thing I cannot see for the life of me is electric folding mirrors, is there an option code I am missing or are they standard?

Nevada leather is easily maintained

Options s430 & s431 should provide folding mirrors, easily distinguished by the additional button by the window switches,

I'm basing the above from my spec and have folding mirrors, not that they fold that much out the way

Though I'm looking at your first post

Main beam Assist & Electric tailgate .............

Appears nice spec

The dsp is upspecced, the Individual audio is
S752A Individual Audio System, notable by the silver speaker grilles and a plethora of speakers
I stumbled across by chance and its sublime. A rare option that you'd do well to find!

The Pro audio is very good in my X6.  I couldn't justify the Individual on top as the sound stage is a car after all.  I can't remember the overal output but it is more than enough to hurt!  Includes subwoofers too.
