Hi, new to this forum, I have been looking at Range Rover Sports but reading their forums and their horror stories has put me off.
So am now thinking an X5 might be a nice alternative.
I have a budget of up to £25000, and ideally would like a 7 seater from about 2012 on.
For Land Rovers there is a website called Topix, where if you input a registration number, it will list all the specs of the vehicle and all the extras it had fitted when it left the factory. Is there anything like this for BMW ? As I'm finding many dealers don't really know what their sales cars have or just not listing them all.
Regards Tim

Vehicle Spec Details ?
Re: Vehicle Spec Details ?
Sorry do apologise, I've just found a link elsewhere on the forum
Re: Vehicle Spec Details ?
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Yes we have had a few ex-RR owners come over due to problems with their cars, but if you read some posts on the E53 earlier model some also have probs there appear to be less with the later cars probably because they are newer.
Here is a link to BMW vin decoder which can. Give you the spec of a car
https://www.bmwvin.com/
Also if looking at a BMW at that price it's worth checking the comprehensive guide in the E70 section which is a sticky post,
Then probably make your list of what is essential and what is desirable specand go from there what size engine and whether Msport or SE,, generally BMW keep the cars with fbmwsh in their network and they can be higher spec cars, but you generally pay more from them, but they do seem to have a better warranty.
At that price there are a lot of cars about it just depends on what you want, some of the diesels like the 40d suffer with probs with the transfer boxes but this appears to be a known issue which BMW have replaced on some members cars.
Corrosion can happen to the diamond cut alloys and also stone chips down the side from the 20 wheels and tyres can also occur unless it has the bad road package (plastic film). Remember to check the electrics work and usual checks. This shouldn't affect you but if considering an earlier E70 as some members are having probs with the DPF system regens which aren't clearing the system and are now facing a costly option of replacement to fix.
Hope that helps
Graeme
