Tyre pressure warning

My tyre pressure warning (red, not yellow fault) has come on. I checked the tyres when I got the car (a week or so ago) and they were fine and they are still fine. I used the digital gauge on my Ring electric pump which should be reasonably accurate. Anyway is it a case of just resetting the monitor and seeing if it recurs or should I report it to the dealer as it's under warranty?

for now i would just follow the reset procedure and see how things go, but obviously keeping an eye on the tyres as well.
mine play up now and again, going straight to red warning and after checking, all is well.

are you E53 or E70 - runflats or normal tyres?

If you are on Runflats it can sometimes look as though it hasn't lost much, but you soon can tell from the handling. I would reset the TPMS and drive around for a few mins. It could be a slow leak - my wife's mini used to throuw this up all the time with low pressures, But reinflating usually restored it to normal.

Thanks, it's an E53 and I think it's on runflats but I have checked the pressures with the gauge and all appears fine. That said it's possible the dealer didn't reset them when they checked them before I collected and as they were right when I checked them the last time I didn't put any air in so didn't reset. I'll try resetting and see from there.

Had it happen a few times over the years with the E53. A reset solved it every time.

I would definately mention to dealer , sods law the day it goes out of warranty it will play up and not reset, at least it shows history of the fault when it was under warranty, just a thought

Hold in the button the control panel below the heater controls for a few seconds until the warning light goes out.

Hi,
It could be that the monitor was not set correctly the last time the tyres were inflated.
The system looks for a difference in the speed of the wheel, low pressure in would decrease the diameter of wheel so it would go faster than the others.
You need to inflate all tyres to correct pressures & then re-set the monitor as the owners manual.
( can't remember the proceedure ) then when you drive away the system monitors the speed of all wheels & uses this as a benchmark. This is to allow for different size wheel / tyre combination & thread depth.
Now if any wheel differs from those set at the time you re-set the system it will warn you.

Thanks, I read the manual too . It's probably what I said in my second post in that when I first checked them they were find and when I checked them again but the dealer might not have reset them when they checked them before selling it to me. Anyway, I'll see how it goes for a bit but is hasn't come straight back on. To reset you just turn the ignition to position two then do as petert said and hold the button until the warning light on the cluster goes yellow then off (or off when you start).
