Very few manuals on here, or bought in the U.K. so a price may be difficult.
Based on what I have seen with other BMWs it is often suggested that the dual-mass flywheel is done at the same time.
It's about £1k in parts. Can't offer anything on likely labour charge/time needed. BMW charge around £240 an hour here - inc VAT!

This is for the Diesel, but may be similar price for the petrol, parts only.

Thanks Smee, I think it's because I'm using the app on iPad, don't think the crossover works well.

I think you are seeing the page with the adverts, which is what I see to, but it gives you an option (in the bottom right hand corner if I remember) to click through to the relevant ebay page. The click through option isnt immediately obvious.

Hello.
Not checked the validity of the link but found this:
https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/luk/971938
Says £200 for flywheel and clutch says E53 3.0i
From internet research seems like its a 4-5hr job according to what I have read.
Maybe an idea to ask a gearbox specialist that reconditions gearboxes if they can do the job as they should have expertise/ equipment in removing gearbox. They way they charge for reconditoned and reconditioned including fitting is usually about £400 diference.
thanks

Re: UK Clutch Change (2001 e53 3.0l petrol) £££?
Probable easier to remove the gearbox than the engine given how much else would need relocating! 5 hours sounds better with an expert doing the job. They will have the tools needed as well - I have seen reference to special tools being necessary but without mention of what they are. Could just be a clutch alignment tool, but then with BMW anything is possible >:(

Just took a quick look at work LUK clutch and flywheel with bolts £360 + vat
LUK have a fitting time of 4.75 hrs
Its a SAC clutch so you need a special tool to set it up they're not cheap so if you can hire or borrow one that'd be best

As X5Sport says..
Engine will stay in..
You need to drop exhaust (Disconnect from manifold and let it hang to give clearance to Transfer box mount bolts), take off covers, drop off rear prop shaft, disconnect front propshaft at front diff, disconnect gear linkage, remove bellhousing bolts, remove transfer box mount bolts (After supporting with jack) then remove gearbox with front prop shaft(you can do it with transfer box fitted, then remove clutch & Flywheel
In true Haynes fashion re-assembly is reverse of dis-assembly except includes more swearing..
Whilst off, grease up the splines of the front prop shaft to transfer box connection and ensure they seat fully...
I could get a GM5sp Auto out in less than 2.5 hours..

There hasn't been much comment regarding the second half of your question in terns of what else you should get done, but given the variety of posts I think you need to phone around and get two or three quotes for accurate pricing.

Ditto.....
Check Transfer box chain tension (Google it should show how and what)
Replace the rubber doughnut on the rear propshaft (to transfer box) and use new bolts..
probably part of the kit, and obvious, the release bearing too.
