LPG Conversion sorted. Very impressed!!!

Post by Silverback mike » Wed Jan 25, 2017 6:30 pm

Well folks as above. Years ago I had a P38 Range Rover on lpg which was always slightly down on power when on lpg but I've spent a couple of days on gas in the x5 and absolutely no difference. 47p a litre too!!!

Not sure if I'm allowed to name the installers, I'm not connected to them but they were excellent. Big recommendation and easily under a year will pay for itself at that price a litre. Fully guaranteed for 2 years too!!

where the hell are you getting LPG for 47p a litre. It's 59.9 in Dorset.

Another correct answer from X5Sport even though they wouldn't stoop to poor mans petrol.

Yeah it's 48.5p here in Wolves. Can't beat the cost of it compared to filling up mine with unleaded.

Where'd you get it done and how much was it, been quoted £1600 for BRC and £2100 for Prins in Plymouth, LPG is 69.9 down here so you lot are quids in!

Prices are high in the Plymouth area as if memory serves there is only two or three garages that sell it within a 25 miles radius. Sellers market

I'll send you a pm with details. It's an OMVL Sequential system and £1150 all in with guarantee (that's for a six cylinder, I presume it's more for a V8)

Bought my 02  4.4 in 2006 at 42K, had lpg fitted immediately.
Is the best mod I have done ( I used to run a light delivery co. and we ran the vans on lpg, so have some experience.).
A lot of people worry about loss of efficiency, but with a large engine it is negligible and not noticed, I get the equiv of 30-35 mpg (according to fuel costs).
As lpg is a gas when ingested into the engine ,the combustion is much cleaner and oil change life can be doubled.
I don't, but if you have ever seen the colour of the oil at oil change, it is a lovely golden colour, not black.
I also worked as a forklift engineer and the lpg engined also had lovely golden oil at oil change and lasted forever.
Other benefits, longer engine life, plug life.
So if anyone is sitting on the fence , I would say do it.
My system is an Autogas Italia, with a 95 litre donut tank. Also my local main BMW dealer still honoured the warrantee.
