Hi Guys
Just sold my beloved Alfa Romeo for 3.0 X53, got it very cheap so out with the toolkit to fix the issues it came with....
Can it be as bad as an Alfa Romeo?????
Job number 1 Passenger window doesn't work and the door wont lock/unlock?
Regards Steve

Re: Newbie
Hello and
It shouldn't be as the metal moth has a tougher time eating an E53 than an Alfa. I remember the Alfa Sud from the 80's would become a pile of iron oxide in 18 months!

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The X5 should be better but they can have their own traits, and although you have a door handle the front door ones can also play up, but there are how to's in the section that help, but regular maintenance really helps.

Welcome,
Not a chance. I had a sud in the late 80@s . Woke up one morning thinking someone had stolen it. On closer inspection there was a brown patch and a steering wheel left on the drive. It had rained that night and I came to the conclusion that it had dissolved. Im just pleased I never hit anything in it.
You will find yr BMW much hardier.

Welcome,
Funny how old reputations stick - even from 70' & 80's.
Lancia's eventual departure no doubt not helped by the beta rust stories decades ago.
On honesty I can't recall the last time I saw a rusty Alfa.

Re: Newbie
If you have ever owned one of these italian cars made out of recycled bake beans tins, youd realise just how bad they were.
We loved them but they were proper rust buckets. I had a sud, and a GTV6 for a while. Both utter rot boxes. Then I had a lancia Y10 as a station car .
You don't see any rusty ones any more as they have all dissolved. Once they started making non dissolving cars they then cut corners somwhere because they still leak and by having dodgy electrics .
Another case of great idea , poor execution.

Re: Newbie
Agreed...the point I make is that many wrongly associate modern Alfas with rust.
