Jambo from Kenya
Jambo from Kenya
Took delivery of my late 2003 ex Japan X5 3.0i a couple of weeks ago. Genuine 35,000Kms as far as I have been able to confirm. Looks and smells like new inside.
I have been driving an E240 for the past 4 years but decided I needed something a bit higher off the ground and bigger wheels to handle the roads we have. I looked at the Mercedes MLs but they didn't do it for me. There are not so many X5 in the market here and it took a while to find a good one.
I have to say it is a superb vehicle and I wish I had bought one years ago. Just a few issues, like the Japanese FM radio and SatNav which I will deal with in due course and the really irritating beeping which happens whenever I select reverse. Something that seems common to all Japanese cars.
Reading through the forum has given me lots of useful info and I will be sure to ask when I need any advice.

Jambo Bob,
I had the pleasure of spending 6 weeks out in Kenya back in the nineties. Loved it and always promising myself to return. Good luck with your car and the X will be far more capable the E240 on your roads.

Welcome aboard. We really are going truly international now. Nice ride for exploring the veldt. Somewhat more comfortable than a LandRover.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

V.nice! I lived in Kenya for 2 years (Nyali, just outside Mombasa)... We had a crappy old Diahatsu Charade at the time, I think the X5 would do a better job of the Mombasa to Nairobi road, am sure
