Pairing a smartphone via Bluetooth.....hmmpf
Erm......can't fathom how to do this....I've got the navigation screen thing....help please chaps!!
Loving the X53 and prefer it to the F10 which I've donated to wifey (manual/knackered knee) however the X5 feels like prehistoric tech. Shows how quickly things move on doesn't it. And.....controversial I know but I really think the 3.0 suits it. Positively sings when making good progress..
On that note I'm getting it converted to lpg on Tuesday as I'm doing 17mpg

Can't help with the bluetooth thing, had that and agree with your pre historic comment, when I looked into it the cost to repair/replace things drove me to more modern stuff. You won't regret the LPG conversion although it would seem the price of that waste product seems to mirror the petrol price rises.

My 54 plate x5 wouldn't pair to my iPhone until I used inpa software on my laptop and I went into the communication part of the software and connected my phone that way.
I purchased the software and cable from bcable.com

The E53 version of Bluetooth are too old for many current phones. BMW messed up badly on that front and did not get it right until the E70 version.
If you can find the last series of modules fitted to that series of X5 then it will pair but the previous variants struggled as they had early firmware and could not easily be updated to new releases. Realoem lists the part numbers for the TCU/ULF module and an on line search may find a used one.
As some suggests, it may have suffered a failed module or be missing. They weren't reliable and were expensive to replace so Owners just got rid of them.

Re: Pairing a smartphone via Bluetooth.....hmmpf
Explain this old phone option to me, do you divert calls to it or what?
Re: Pairing a smartphone via Bluetooth.....hmmpf
You could divert calls to it, or have an entirely separate number, or some providers will give you a second sim for the same number
Re: Pairing a smartphone via Bluetooth.....hmmpf
I've been meaning to do this for a while,...so today I got a Nokia 6310 but I can't seem to fit it in its holding tray under the armrest ??
Is there a certain way to slide this phone in ??

Might be worth posting a pic of the holder so we can be sure you have the right holder for that phone

There were lots of phone holders so as above....need to check. It should just slot straight in. The holder can be swapped out.

Great that it's sorted but now not sure why you originally posted. Were you not following the instructions then?

Re: Pairing a smartphone via Bluetooth.....hmmpf
The other trick that sometimes causes pairing failure is that it can only store 4 and until you delete them you cannot pair any more.
