At the moment I am driving a mint 1998 523i SE which is incredibly quiet and refined!
Loving this whilst I consider...

Hmm....also keeping eye out for a stepping stone car whilst considering what to get next. Been nosing at E39's myself, issue is I suspect if I could end up perfectly happy keeping it rather than ploughing money into something that costs & depreciates more.

Splang - new thresd please on 523i as and when able & if so motivated.
Gone - 2002 E53 X5 4.4i Sport (Pre Facelift) Owned 2006-2016.

What a great idea, enjoying some classic 6 cylinder BMW at low cost.  Still got a 2.5 X3 2004 2 years after buying it as a stop gap!

I don't hint that cars of pre 4 cylinder and low cost finance where made to a different standard. If you couldn't afford a BMW (other German marques are available as well) you didn't get one on the never never.
