Possible fan issue

Post by GlobalTV » Tue Dec 27, 2016 11:43 am

Hi Guy's.

Ive got an X5 3.0D Sport on a 54 plate. When i start the old girl up, theres a ticking noise which is near the passenger side glove box, i can only assume its something to do with the fan because when you turn the heating off it stops.
Have any of you had the same issue and what was the problem.
Regards
Matt

Another one finding a little challenge with noises eh?

This one is normal.  Under the bonnet on the right side is a large grey metal box with Thermo Top on it.  It is a Webasto heater unit and is there to heat the coolant and interior up faster.  It runs automatically if the air temp is <5°C.  The ticking is the unit running up.  There is a little exhaust under the car underneath the front passenger seat.

Completely normal, so you can relax again. :)
