Hi, first post....looking at a 40,000 miles E83 2.5 petrol 'Sport' automatic . It's a Dec 2004, 1 owner, with FSH, and full history and described as immaculate.
Being naturally cautious, just wondered what I should be looking for when I go to inspect it? I'm fairly handy and have owned various BMW 3 series, but not experienced the X3. I currently run a 2002 RAV4 petrol, but the miles are building and I like low mileage cars with FSH.
Petrol makes more sense for me as I do local stuff mainly....
Any advice appreciated! Looking at the car on Sunday.
Cheers.

Looking to buy E83 petrol...
Re: Looking to buy E83 petrol...
My mate had a '54 2.5se auto for 5 years and 55k miles (bought with 35k miles) and apart from rear springs (they all snap), battery, 2 parking sensors and an ignition coil had no other problems.
He did all his own servicing at around 9k miles with Mobil1 oil and only changed it to buy an '05 2.0d X3 2 years ago. He did not get on with the diesel and had it for less than a year before selling it.
They are great cars but fuel economy is not good. He is a copper so drives pretty hard but rarely saw +25mpg.
He went to Scotland and back fully laden and a roof box (himself, wife and 2 kids under 10) and averaged 20mpg over the trip.
