Dim or Dead ?

Post by nujon » Sat Jan 29, 2011 1:30 pm

Still working through the ins and outs of my new X5 acquisition - couple of small points:-
  • 1. The service-level indicator display (dash bottom left) is very faint - at night you can just make out that it is showing 3 green bars on start up - does this imply a failed panel lamp or failing display or are they all like that ?

    2. The internal release levers on the nearside doors are illuminated (sidelights on) wheras the offside ones are not - failed bulb/bulbs or just like that ?
Can anyone advise please?

Down to your right by the steering wheel you will find the controls for the lights, there is a small wheel which alters the brightness of all the interior lights including the dash lights. Try increasing this and see if that makes a difference...

The lights on the dash for the Service Indicator shouldn't dim unless the above has been altered... they would just not work.

As for the light on the door, not sure about a bulb going but that doesn't mean it hasn't... its a faf to get to the wiring but I'd check that first and then look at the bulb if it bothers you... I don't notice TBH.

Thanks Turks - the dimmer wheel switch works fine w.r.t all other panel lights - the service indicator just stays dim - I suspect there's a back-light bulb that's blown

Thats strange, must be a back-light then like you say... easily fixed I suppose but timely!
