Hi. I have a 05 e53 4.8 x5 fitted with an x pipe and a k&n filter that I think has an over fuelling issue. it occasionally drives as if the 'choke' has not fully gone off. to put it simply. it seems to be slightly bogged down as if its choked up.If I turn of the engine off when its warmed up and leave it for 10/15 minuets when I restart it nearly always clears itself and runs ok. I'm not sure what controls the choke/fuelling. is it a sensor of some sort? or am I getting it totally wrong? many thanks for any replies. cheers.

Fuelling is controlled by the ECU and will most likely be air temperature, air pressure, oil temp and throttle demand sensor controlled - and possibly more factors too. Unless it has been mapped for the changes to the engine then it will use factory settings which will be less than ideal for the altered set-up you have.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I would add to that a sticking thermostat, which is telling the ECU that the engine is still cold.
