Morning fine XDrivers members!
I just had my X5 serviced and for part of the service I asked to have the non working headlight washers investigated. My mechanic did a diagnostic check and nothing came up. He then checked if there was an electrical signal being set to the washers and he confirmed that there was no electrical signal. He checked all the fuses and they were all fine order. Both the windscreen and rear screen washers are working so a bit stumped....
Any thoughts people?
Thanks

Any ideas Peeps as I am loather to take it to BMW to be hit with a bill just to speak to me....
Re: Headlight Washer Failure
All I could suggest is to see if you can hear the pump working as someone else presses the washers.
If you can hear the pump working there must be a blockage in the system.

Re: Headlight Washer Failure
Although this won't help you fix the problem, my 2010 BMW X5 E70 LCI 4.0d has had both replaced under warranty by the previous owner.
So a common fault it seems

Re: Headlight Washer Failure
Mine don't work either on both sides so it's a blockage or the pump that's faulty new pump off eBay was £18 and I brought all three new filters from bmw but I just can't be bothered to take front wing and trim off to get to it yet lol !!
Re: Headlight Washer Failure
Ok just took my washer bottle out and the crap that was in the bottle was stopping my headlight washer pump from working ,the filter was blocked .
It is a crap job to get the bottle out to flush thought but if you want to just clean or replace the filter you can just get to it with out removing it also my fuse had blown under the dash fuse box.
Will not be using cheap washer fluid from now on.
Happy they are working again

Not necessarily cheap washer fluid, this happened to my e70 three years in, and it only used BMW fluid, or should have done, it had a five year service plan.
I was told it happened a lot, I think it relates to additive in the bottle going like jelly, i.e. not used a lot, better using the wash probably once per week to reduce the risk of this happening in the future.
