i think it may be space grey with black interior now or possibly mineral white with black interior... i'm still confused  My dealer has to get back to me on the date the spec gets locked then i will buckle down and make a decision  :))

What are peoples opinions on  enhanced bluetooth? From what i have read online it gives you the ability to connect 2 devices (although this function can be coded in), wireless charging, extra USB socket in the centre console and the data connection for the RTTI and other online functions is 4G instead of 3G. I would like it but it seems pricey at £470.

Also another thing i don't understand is that that the cost of the optional 20" 468m and 469m alloy wheels are the same £1200 for either option. But when you specify msport plus pack which includes 20" 469m, you have the option of changing to the 468m wheels for an additional £325 on top. I only just realised the 468m's are only available on the M50, which makes me want them more  :))

My personal opinion here.

I think the dark metallic greys seem to be the in-colour and looks great. BMW are using a dark grey version to market their new 5 series. White doesn't look as classy as the grey.

I have not got the enhanced bluetooth but you do get a central console USB without it and you also have a lot more space in the centre arm rest that takes a load of bits and pieces.

I optioned the 468Ms and they are definitely the best.

My X5 is mineral white.  It is a great looking colour when the sun is shining and the car is clean.  I'm very pleased with the colour.  I wanted a break from many previous black cars too.

If you aren't so religious in cleaning (which I'm not) then I have found you get some dark patches where the dirty and water runs down from the doors and over the sills.  I'll take a picture if i get a chance so you can see it.

Agreed, the colour choice is poor.

I've gone for black interior (last car was coral) and I think it suits the X5, especially with the pano roof.

As for exterior, I was unsure between grey and black (I've had lots of black cars). In the end I went carbon black. It's an astonishingly beautiful colour, shines a dream in the sun and really sparkles. BUT, I've had mine detailed and ceramic coated and as already mentioned this is a MUST on a black X5 as swirls are just really obvious.

In my opinion you need a striking colour for the X5, one the road I think the carbon black, space grey and mineral white all look striking. The black sapphire isn't quite so special (and I've had 5 black sapphire BMWs!!).

As for enhanced Bluetooth - I've added it on most of my cars. The dual phone hung is handy, if you have work/personal phones is excellent and when out with the wife, to have both connected is a dream.

You also get the wireless charger - I bought a £12 adapter for my iPhone and used it for a few weeks, then the novelty wore off and it's not been used since. You do get wireless hotspot in double speed 4G which is impressive, but £12 per month for 1GB.

Finally you get two microphones (driver and passenger) which makes phone calls including the passenger a breeze.

Finally finally, if you want to add Apple Car Play, you must add enhanced Bluetooth - even coding it later won't allow you to add this (and it can be overwrites by dealer updates too).

Hope that helps.

So after lots of deliberating and even considering a merino interior at one point i have settled on space grey with black dakota and the hex trim. I sat in a lovely pearl silver car with merino criollo leather at my local dealer and the interior was stunning. There are limited online pictures of it and they don't do it justice. In person it was stunning, but in the end i decided to go for the black dakota as the car is being used mainly for family duties so the extra durability of the dakota won it for me. I seriously considered terra dakota but the wife wasn't keen and I couldn't track a car down locally with the leather to see the shade in person so didn't risk it.

In other news the UK gets spec and price changes from Jan 2017 production onwards. My car is scheduled for week 4 2017 so it affects my build. 20" wheels and reverse camera are now standard but the car gets a £2k base price increase. I had specified both these options so overall the car works out an extra £500. The dealer has passed this on to me. I was expecting to be locked in at the old price given that I paid my deposit and confirmed the order on 1st Nov, but they are adamant that this gets passed on to me. Secretly i was hoping they would have honoured the old list price and the cost of my options would have gone down by £1.5k for me to spend that on something else but that doesn't seem to be the case. The new price carries a higher GFV so gave a marginal extra discount and now the PCP is identical to before. One benefit is that the 468M wheels were previously £325 extra when specifying the m sport plus pack, but as 20" wheels are now standard  I get them at no additional cost. I had specified the 469M wheels previously but was going to ask to change and pay the £325 for the 468M's but I don't have to now.

468Ms are great and finally they have added reverse camera!! It seems crazy that looking at the BMW config the night vision is included but not the reverse camera.

Cheeky question - but what level of discount did you get in the end. There's talk of 22% elsewhere on the forum. I ask because I will be changing my 3 year old F15 before November NEXT YEAR, but may change early if there are good deals to be had now.

I originally negotiated 22.6% off but that's been reduced slightly as the retail price of the car goes up from January 2017. I did my deal on 1st November for a Week 4 2017 production slot and it took quite  a bit of effort to get that as most dealers had met their targets and had limited build slots left. From what i have read about people that ordered earlier in the year, they had dealers  fighting each other to secure the deal so there was less effort required.

I've no idea what discounts are still available but I hear prices are only going one way, and that's firming up!

Thanks both.

I checked with Broadspeed and they told me the same story about prices going up from 1st Jan. Having said that, the fact that I would probably have specced the 20 inch wheels and definitely the rear camera means that the effect is not so great for me. They were quoting roughly 20% reduction.

What was more difficult was the PX - as their dealer was not keen to price for delivery date due to it being so far - "16-22" weeks away. They reverted in the end saying they had a build slot already booked that they could re-spec - delivery late March (which by my reckoning is still 17+ weeks away).

Their PX on my (currently) 3 years exactly old X5 Msport 30d in excellent condition and with only 14k on the clock was however the sticking point as they were way below the current value. Obviously that's my opinion only, but from the looking around I've done so far they have predicted it'll fall 15% in value between now and late March. That seems high to me so I'm not pursuing that line of enquiry.
