I have fixed your photo link - if you click edit you will be able to see ythe correct code. I clicked on Bbc code option then cut same & pasted editing out the stuff not compatable to the board.

Many thanks AW8. Tried it a few ways so still am not sure exactly what I did wrong. (Managed to do it before...)

Well when the actual meltdown would start, that too would be a national emergency !

It's a bit nippy here today too. Boiler is saying it's not alight when it quite plainly is. Blasted sensor fault. Snowing outside and at this rate it will be inside too.

Awaiting an ingineer!!

Injineer been - system faulty!! Awaiting parts.

BUT!! It now seems that we acyually have a upply fault into the entire road so I giess we're going to get a road full of vans, laods more injineers, a big 'ole with everyone standing around it sucking their teeth and sharply intaking their breath whilst shaking their heads. Of course they'll want loads of out Tea - and 'Got any biscuits', with chocolate no doubt too.

And it's bl@@dy freezin in ere now. :fuelfire: :fuelfire: :sos:   :police:

Sorry to hear of cold woes X5Sport.

£700 in heating oil in a 3 bed bungalow since 13/12. I haven't dared read the electic or gas meter. I'm sat here wearing 4 layers, with gas fire on yet with cold feet & hands. Seems illogical to not have gas heating when we have gas fire & cooker........heh, that's rentals,( not through making a desired choice).

Kinell! That sounds like a lot of oil!! National Grid are coming back tomorrow (s'overtime innit :D) to dig a big 'ole at our end of the road, and another at the other end. Then they're going to pump the water out of the Gas Main! No idea how it got in there mind.

So we're disconnected completely and trying to heat a 4 bed house with two 3kW heaters :? I've read the meter and will try to claim it back.

Even the puss cats have got friendly...... :D They must be cold too.

So after getting rid of all the air and sh$te that had pulled through the pipe i got her up and running again by the time mrs x555 came home from work :heat:

AW8 ... thats a lot of oil for a 3 bed mate :o i have used over £500 since November mind with all this cold weather we have had

The insulation here is poor, the double glazing & doors allow drafts & the boiler & entire heating system is truly Jurassic !

The financial figure I quoted relates to 1000 litres of oil but I reckon I still have about 250 litres left.

Oil supplier decided to not tell us they had stopped electronically monioring levels which let us run dry. Engineer had to flush & bleed the boiler to restart & some weeks after he left I found water timer settings were all wrong to our detriment. Then had a manual level monitor installed & fitters had to drain & refill tank. I got them to show before & after levels which I had no choice but to rely on.

I recently told the landlady the house was inefficient & she told me a relative of hers who lived here 2 yrs ago paid £150 every month on direct debit just for heating oil. That equates to £1800 p/a & roughly nearer £2.5k p/a at todays prices. Factor in rent at £1200 pcm & Council tax at £200 pcm & the energy costs have real impact, (especially when factored with poor performing savings).

We were not expecting an energy efficent rental, but it was the only rental available in size & location when forced to move, (at our expense), on back of our last landlady suddenly deciding to sell last June.

Landlady here had quotes for glazing & heating last week but also 2 estate agent valuations. I have no idea what the future moths have in store, (ironic as the location makes it far more bearable in the warm of summer).

We hoped to be back in home of our own by now, but recently, (with funds in place), we were forced to pull out of a purchase due to seller failing to disclose issues that were unresolvable & massively significant. (3rd house we had offer accepted on in 9 months that didnt work out due to circs beyond our control & one of several offered on).

Genuinely very testing times.....& another story, (which would force this thread even further off topic), so I will stop typing. ;)
