Have a look on the PF Jones website.  They have the fitting guides for their available range of towbars and electrical kits.

I have fitted 3 towbars on X3 (E83) and they are very easy to do. If you get the correct wiring loom from PF Jones there is no cutting of wires. You use there scotch lock connectors.

Bumper cutting depends on what rear diffuser is fitted to yours. My mates '05 Aerokit and my old '56 SE both had the removable panel so no cutting was needed. My current '07 did not have this so I had to cut.

I used the fitting guides from PFJones/Witter and Westfalia websites.

If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....

Last year I put a westfalia detachable and dedicated wiring kit on our 2.0msport 57 plate. Was the easiest thing to do. Bumper did need a bit of cutting but not that you could see it cut when the ball was in the boot. Bought from pf jones, and any problems you encounter, you can call them up and they will talk you through it. That good a service, I'm thinking about putting one on our E70 4.0d, but at present, I don't have a reason to need one (caravan sold)
