Ebay Scammers
I have to admit that I got caught out by a scammer on Ebay, fortunately not paying the full value of a car, but have lost a fair bit of money.
So if any of you see what looks like a good deal and see it being handled by a company called Transport Operations Limited in Plymouth, stay well clear.
(I once bought a BMW 540i on Ebay, without ever having seen it before, one of the best cars I've ever had)

Re: Ebay Scammers
It could possibly be that he has paid a deposit on a vehicle via PayPal. Deposits aren't covered under their buyer protection as I was told that no physical item is purchased - so NEVER use it for that reason. I made that mistake once and had to get my money back off a scammer the old fashioned way
From my own personal buying and selling experiences at the time and from my own opinion, when it comes to dealing with a problem, Paypal is a very shoddy set up for genuine sellers and you leave yourself wide open to a whole host of scams. Scams in which I feel they almost encourage (via certain policies they have or had) and when I once had another issue, I had the money taken from my paypal account, was provided with automated responses or a brick wall approach to dealing with genuine problems (if you were lucky enough to speak to someone). Also, I once sold a set of wheels and found myself in a position where I had no wheels and no money, whereas the buyer had the luxury of a set of £800 wheels for free! Luckily, I had the balls to turn up unannounced and reclaim them - but this was over a 100 mile drive each way!
If you aren't dealing with an honest person, one mistake and you are in for a lot of disappointment and stress. Be very wary.
*Needless to say, I don't use them other than for cheap items that you are prepared to lose.

Re: Ebay Scammers
Only last week i asked a seller a question as in was the price right.
Car was a VW Touran 2ltr tdi on a 2012 plate as it was listed with a buy now of £3450.

Hi,
First of all I want to thank you for your interest in regards to my car. I don't know much about cars but this was my brother's car who recently passed away so I know it has always been properly maintained.
The car is in excellent condition, immaculate inside and out it looks, feels and drives like new, 87,000 miles, no damage, no accidents, no scratches, garage kept, non-smoker, 2 keys, V5, logbook, service book and all handbooks. The interior is also in perfect shape. The engine is also in great condition, no problem with it. The vehicle comes with Full documentation and Full Service History, 12 months MOT
The car is located in UK, I moved out of the country when I found my other half but this is not a problem for me as far as the transaction is concerned because I was selling the car through WTG anyway. I believe you know what WTG is if you buy and sell online often, if you don't I'll be glad to walk you through the process, let me know if you are still interested so I can get back to you with additional details. The price is £3,450."

I wouldn't have gone near a car that's got to be 5k under priced.

Re: Ebay Scammers
I didn't.
Just asked the seller if the price he had it up for was right and not a mistake.
