Hi all,
I'm after a bit of help with regard to monitoring the progress of my factory order X6. From reading a few posts it sounds as if I can obtain some sort of reference number from my dealer which I can then use to check on where my car is in the build/delivery chain.
So, can someone please tell me what the proper title for this reference number is, then secondly, where do I use it?!
Cheers,
MarkP

Re: Tracking a factory order
I wrote a how to on this forum 6 years back. You need the factory status codes from the dealer and once it has left the factory you can work out which ship it is on.
UK does (or did) not have access to the full tracking system in the way the US does as in the US they are legally obliged to make it available under their FOI laws.

Re: Tracking a factory order
You need the AG number from the dealer.
That is the order reference the factory works to and if you then go to www.bmw.co.uk and ask the genius what's the current situation (quoting the AG number) they'll provide you with the current state of play.
I used this method to pretty much track my car from order to build throug to shipping and finally delivery to the UK dealer.
Here are the current codes used by BMW for their order status:
0000 - Cancelled
0097 - No Current Event Allocated
0037 - Model or Feature Unavailable
0077 - No Quota Available
0200 - Special Request not Scheduled
0500 - Cannot be Scheduled
1100 - Scheduled
1200 - Scheduled for Production
5000 - Confirmed for Production
5050 - Chassis Number Allocated
5055 - Confirmed by Production Control
5100 - Bodyshop Start
5190 - Bodyshop Complete
5200 - Paintshop Start
5270 - Paintshop Complete
5300 - Pre-Assembly Start
5400 - Assembly Start
5500 - Assembly Complete
6000 - Transfer to Distribution
8200 - Released to Carrier
9000 - Departed Plant
9605 - Pre EU Port of Exit
9615/35/45 - In Storage
9610/20/30/40/50/60 - In Transit
9610 - EU Port of Exit
9615 - EU Storage
9620 - At Sea
9630 - Port of Entry
9645 - UK and IE Storage
9650 - Awaiting Dispatch to Dealer
9660 - Dispatched to Dealer

That's good news and I would expect delivery before Christmas.
The genius should also be able to give you an approximate delivery date....
