Best Tyres for Winter

Post by RCVantage » Mon Nov 07, 2016 10:50 am

I've managed to buy a spare set of refurbed 5 Spoke Sport Wheels for my 4.4...with the thoughts of having a dry road biased set for normal daily driving and set with Winter Tyres for the inevitable cold snap...

Does anyone have any suggestions / experience with what might work best the X5's ?

Check put the Winter Tyre /wheels thread and a forum search for other threads - loads of info on winter tyres.
If using non-Runflats, I can highly recommend Vredestein Wintrac Extremes - used these for years on my 4.8is, wear very well and performance is excellent in the cold.  Prices are significantly higher for 19 -21" wheels, and far less choice of tyres as well, so hopefully yours are either 17" or 18".    Better performance from smaller wheels in the winter.  Try Camskill, Tyreleader, oponeo and the usual online dealers for good prices, but this is peak time for winter wheels now, so get in quick as they always sell out.

I'm from Nort Europe/South Finland and here is no one typical weather in winter time.  snowing, raining and ice on the road. I recommend Continental ContiVikingContact 6. There is three part on the tyre, one for each weather type.

I've used VReds too, brilliant tyre, quiet too. Ended up running them all year before I sold the X.
