Hi All,
Winter is coming and I've just purchased new wiper blades. I read good things about the Bosch Aerotwins so purchased a set. Passenger side works a peach but the drive side only touches on the edges and I can't seem to adjust easily without having to bend the arm or file the housing piece down.
Has anyone had a similar issue and if so are there any other alternatives and if not, is there any long term problems that come up from either bending the arm or filing down the little pressure housing piece.
Apologies for not having the technical term for the piece of the wiper arm that I'd file down.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Bosch AR24U and AR22U wiper issue
Sounds like an issue I had where a previous owner had tried to bend the arm and bodged it up completely. Tried adjusting the arm but couldn't find the sweet spot and had to use the traditional type of wiper as they don't appear to suffer as much.
Bought a 2nd hand new arm to fix it properly in the end off eBay.

I had this and it turned out I hadnt been given the correct spec, although im not sure what is. With things like this I often approach other X5 owners in shop carparks and ask if I can inspect the problem part on their vehicle for comparison. Most folk are quite obliging. Obviously it has to be same year/model to ensure no variances.

Re: Bosch AR24U and AR22U wiper issue
Is the spring on the wiper arm itself ok
If the spring is not good, rusted or gunked up then it wont have enough tension to hold the wiper blade correctly on the glass

I've just had the exact same problem with mine, halfway down the drivers wiper arm is a little clip/holder for the old type blades, I removed the clip and hey presto the wiper worked perfectly. Hope this helps

Could anyone take a photo of said clip that needs removed? I was about to replace my wiper blades because the drivers one missed in the centre on the return, but are grand in all other aspects. Although not Aero Twin ones, I'm wondering could this clip be to be blame.
