50d fuel consumption

Post by mogsyman » Sat Oct 29, 2016 3:43 pm

1250 miles in and the car is wonderful  :)

I still have have to remember I'm not driving an M5 which was so fast it could tear internal organs from your body but the 50d is certainly no slouch (I'd really would like to have come from a 'normal' car so I could appreciate just how fast the 50d is  8) )

I didn't buy the 50d because I wanted to save the earth and I'm actually quite pleased with the mpg from such a large and heavy car given the way I obviously have lead in my right foot.....  :))

Image

As you can see I'm getting 24.33mpg (this is accurate, I have an app for that  ;) )

What are others getting in theirs?

I have driven four times into London which is heavy traffic pretty much all the way and aside from that 3 miles to and from work, I'm at Gatwick as I write on my way working again but mostly short traffic heavy runs.

Gotta say the tech in the car is brilliant and I really, really like the LED adaptive lights and active cruise  8)

Keep an eye on your DPF and battery if doing short journeys.  Both will take a caning.

Ha!

Well I could have done that too...

I've taken past cars on their so thought I'd give the X5 a go - should have the lap record for a diesel SUV!

I have just done 800 miles down to Devon and back, M4/M5 plus single track roads, negotiating Farmer Giles and co!

Overall 32MPG, but that was due to steady motorway speed due to traffic, so couldn't unleash as much as I wanted. So pretty pleased.

It's called Road Trip

You have to be disciplined and fill out details when you fill up etc. and I also include all costs relating to the car.

It's quite an eye opener when you see how much these cars cost to run

Think I will just close my eyes and forget the costs, at least there is an 85l tank, so I can pretend I still have a 60l one
