BMW Warranty
BMW Warranty
I am (probably) about to get the BMW Insured warranty (https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Start) as the 6 month warranty I received when I bought my car (from an indy) has expired.
Is there any way of negotiating over price or is the price on the above site (about £120/month comprehensive with £100XS and without breakdown cover) set in stone?
I'm not intending to make any claims (fingers crossed!) but is there a delay before I can after first buying the policy?

Re: BMW Warranty
It's BMW warranty so the price offered is what they offer. Most of it is done online anyway, so don't really see how you can negotiate the price.
Warranty on the twin turbo diesels are expensive, but look in other places. I just renewed mine with warrantywise for nearly half of what you have got your quote for, including DPF, iDrive, Airbags and Air Con (normally cost options with them).

Re: BMW Warranty
Warranties are only worthwhile if they actually pay out when you need them most and don't look to squirm out of everything. Unfortunately, most third party warranty companies do exactly that - cheaper compared to BMW warranty but generally speaking, for good reason, as their intention as actually never to pay a claim if they can help it. I know X5Sport managed to get a very expensive warranty paid via a third party company but I have certainly known a lot of disappointed people in the past with these warranties.
The BMW Extended warranty is by no means perfect and they do the same thing to a lesser extent, but the difference is many of the major dealerships now have someone dealing exclusively with them when a car is in for repair, certainly the case in Tamworth. The BMW EXtended warranty on my 4.8is which is still in force, has been fantastic over the years with virtually everything covered that has gone wrong. As the cars get older though, they do look for more reasons not to pay, so be warned.
I intend to extend the BMw warranty on my E70 next year after the AUC warranty ends. The major faults in these cars cost ££££1000s to repair, I couldn't own an X5 without one, it would be like playing Russian Roulette!

Re: BMW Warranty
Only one bill got paid out, the gearbox. The second one was a fuel pump relay. £10 part, £210 investigation - and that wasn't covered, only the part and fitting it! Oh and when cancelled there was a 30% 'Admin fee' so
I got nothing back. >:(

Re: BMW Warranty
I have a warranty with warranty direct and they have been excellent - paid out £4500 for twin turbos replacement. I had negotiated the removal of the betterment clause - which was lucky!

Thanks for the replies everyone.
@brandon888 - did you definitiely get the same level of cover over the phone as you were quoted for online? What model X5 is it? And finally O:-) were you extending an existing BMW warranty?

Re: BMW Warranty
i am considering this warranty on my e53 but @ 111k on the clock im not sure they will cover it.
there isnt anything wrong with the car but with all the gearbox failures around it would be nice to have a little back up

Re: BMW Warranty
I have had one a couple of times, just about to use it for the first time so will report back. Generally speaking, the more miles the vehicle has therefore the higher risk ergo the higher premium. The website will allow you to play with excess and different levels of cover, plus pay upfront and you can transfer the warranty if you sell the car, or pay monthly and cancel if you sell.

Re: BMW Warranty
You may be able to get a 'driveline' warranty to cover the hot/oily bits but little else without severe caveats. They may well not cover ICE etc, or have high(er) excesses, but there might be some kind of usable option available.
