Foot operated tailgate operation X1 F48

Post by m6york » Sun Oct 16, 2016 8:27 pm

Anyone experienced problems with the foot operated tailgate operation on the new X1 ?

I can only get mine to work in approx 1 in 30 attempts
I have continually checked the BMW instructions to ensure I stand and sweep the leg correctly but the problem remains. Locking/unlocking works fine from the other buttons etc
I have yet to report the issue to my dealer (car bought new 3 months ago)

If it is of any help, I find that on my Skoda I need to be very close to the car (less than 2') with the key pocket nearest the car, and then sweep my foot before stepping back a foot or so.  It opens every time if I do that but can be intermittent otherwise.  Too much in my pocket like coins or a wallet also stops it working.

The mental picture of you dancing a merry (or angry) dance behind your car made me chuckle. Thanks.
