2012 X5 M Sport Driver Seat Height?

Hi, just bought a 2012 X5 M Sport. The vehicle is great but I find the driver seat maximum height is too low! I am around 5' 10". Is it possible to raise the driver seat any higher by re-calibration? Thanks for any advice.

I am not sure you will be able to achieve this as looking at diagram on realoem.com link below the electric motors will only have a certain amount of movement as it looks like the seat position would be restricted by the mountings.

The only things I can offer are it may be worth checking the seat base is level and then raise it up the the max first. Also you could try different seat positions forward or back a bit as when I move mine forward the seat seems to gets slightly higher.

I just need to raise the seat base by about one inch, I'll try what you suggest.

Would it be a relatively easy job to have the seat raised by one inch using spacers/longer bolts?

Looking at the diagram on realoem I would say near impossible as the seat apppears to be mounted on horizontalbars with arms point down and it pivots raising and lowering the seat probably via an electric motor.

The thing to remember is the seat must be secure just in case the worst happens and you have an accident.

I guess if good at welding you could take the seat out and have longer arms welded to the horizontal bars which would be rather involved and costly.

Personally i would give BMW service a ring and explain the problem, as they must have had other customers ask the same, and maybe they have a simpler solution, and no I wasn't suggesting a cushion although that could work.
