Hi there fellow xfivers, i really need some help please, i have a 2001 x5 e53 4.4 v8 petrol auto, i have the standard tv sat nav tape player with 6 disc changer in the boot, i recently bought a tv sat nav from ebay its a xtrons unit it boasted that it will fit in place of the old unit and is bmw friendly with all mod cons iphone usb bluetooth blah blah, when attempting to fit it the two plugs that fit on the old unit do not marry up with the plugs from the new head unit, i emailed the seller and i had to buy a extension lead so i have but nothing still looks like it will fit, the seller is being less than useless and im £300 down i will up load some pics and would be so gratefull for any advice please, thank you so much

there is another lead .... with the round pins fairly large that i cant see in your pics ..... thats the one your looking for to do power/speakers
it may be in the boot in the spare wheel well (you need a 5m extension if so)

If you have the packaging & all parts supplied, but missing some part or thing from the seller - box it up & raise an ebay return/refund request.....
The seller has to reply, or ebay will simply refund you if the seller does nothing..

OK - I have done this recently albeit with a facelift version. If its the same, then the connector you are looking for is in the boot next to the battery. Basically unplug the connectors from the radio unit next to the battery (big square silver thing - will have to remove some plastic covers). For your year of car, plug the round pin connector into the wire that used to go to the radio. Connect the extension cable (and in my case the CANBUS box)to that then (and this is the fun part) run the extension from the boot, under the back seat, under the plastics by the rear door, under the passenger seat and up to the back of the unit. From there its plug and play... what could be simpler... expect skinned knuckles, some swearing and then some beer...

You are working at the wrong end of the car to start with. You need to be in the boot, under the spare, under the suspension pump under the plastic cover where the battery is...
