Reverse Camera In Motion Query???

Post by Steamyrotter » Fri Sep 16, 2016 10:02 pm

Just a quick question that will open a can of worms...

whilst looking about i notice that apparently you can get Reverse Camera in motion set up ala rear view mirror view type thing...Think it is a coding option.

the thing is...
I have a camera in my horse box to keep a check on the  horsey, and one on the back of the caravan which i used to be able to see on the monitors in my old X.

Just wondering if there would be an easy way of getting them to display in the E70 should i finally be able to get one????.
or if someone has seen this done at all???
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

You can code the tv in motion bia Carly and remove the nag screens from the camera and tv, but not seen an option to get the reverse camera in motion.  I have a wireless unit for our motorhome which does this though, in effect a camera facing rearwards, which does the same thing.  A Dashcam wired facing the rear could do likewise and give a constant rear view in motion.

I have read it can be done, and I think I found the bit that needs coding.
But obviously as I haven't got one I can't try...

Was just wondering if anyone has experience.

Next thought is tv in motion and put it in through an aux input??
Is that doable?
Are there aux video inputs??

I think it depends on the MY of E70 as the later ones (2011 onwards) have a Combox which allows for different coding options.  It also depends a lot on what options the car was specced with originally.

I managed to have BMW Apps coded to mine without any difficulty or hardware additions as its a later car and likewise quite a few coding possibilities exist - why not contact Patryk at Bimmertech - he responds bvery quickly by email - and ask if it can be done and get an idea of cost.  They are really very good with coding BMWs - I had my BMW Apps done by them - connected via my laptop and mifi device and their tech in Poland (they send you a coding cable to arttach to OBD11 port ) and less than 30 minutes later I had BMW Apps enabled - biggest cost involved was purchase of an official FSC code from BMW for the apps.

Only problem with custom coding non-BMW options is that a main dealer software update could overwrite it all.......
Still, worth asking the Bimmertech chaps.

Not this time, sorry.  Never played with that part of the systems.  :-[ :'(
