2011 How to fit boot insert

Post by pth1980 » Sat Sep 10, 2016 9:37 pm

Hi all. My first post so here goes......when you open the boot there are 2 metal looking boot inserts. The right hand one now has the metal cover coming apart from the black plastic base. I have the new part but how do you get the old part out? BMW Sytner Chigwell saying you need a special tool. I've had a look and no obvious way to remove. ImageImageImage

Hi all. I've managed to fit this now. After removing a few screws in the boot to try and remove the entire inside of the boot....realised that the "specialist BMW removal tool" was a standard flat head screw driver carefully placed under one edge. Once one corner was loosened the rest popped out. Quick hoover of dust and the new one pushes easily back in.

Also just had the RED screen on the nav system. I turned the car turned off for an hour but now all working again. Will keep an eye on this as BMW quote £90 for diagnostics, then either new part (cost TBC) or software update for approx. £250!! Common problem on forums but BMW Sytner have no knowledge. !!
