Order modification
Hey all,
So after placing order for the X5 40d M sport we received an email to say that the black alloys we had chosen were no longer available due to the upgrade but another set (469m jet black) were instead going to be fitted. Has anyone else had this with their order? We placed the order mid July with the Car expected for delivery in 2 weeks time. I'm hoping this means we get the 2017 upgrades?? Thanks

Re: Order modification
I'd say you're guaranteed to get the MY17 if it's not been built yet! The 469s look good, not keen on black wheels myself but they are better than the previous turbine style black wheels.

Re: Order modification
MY changes normally start in October so it may depend upon exactly where your build slot actually sits.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Ah it is at stage 9000 departed plant so we are just waiting for it to be shipped now. guessing this means no upgrade for us . we have gone for the mineral white with black alloys. It was the grey or white, but after seeing almost every other x5 on the road being grey we decided to go for white.

Oh that's a shame. We are just waiting for it to be shipped now as it has departed plant. Was hoping that as we had the alloys that are on the new upgrade we would have the pro nav upgrade too

After speaking to a BMW customer service member I was given this response when giving my order number and asking if my vehicle would receive the MY2017 upgrades - "The MY2017 updates were based for models built in July/August" Maybe there is hope after all ::)

If you're on 9000, you will have a MY17. Production of the new model started at the beginning of August. I've delayed my order for this very reason and my car is likely sat next to yours right now as I'm also on 9000!!

What is actually included in the MY17 do you know? With a extra bit of luck they may just confuse mine with yours and that's a M50d for me ::) )

Here you go - tried to upload from my phone earlier but it wouldn't work - my dealer copied this from the product brief:

Re: Order modification
Model year starts from week 31 which equates to the first week of August.
Mine happened to be built during that week having deliberately been delayed by the dealer and is now at the dealers in the U.K. complete with new idrive etc.

Very nice!! Feels like mine has been stuck at 9000 departed plant for way too long. Having said that it's only been 2 weeks. Just me being impatient ::)

Thanks for that Mark. Quite a few changes happening. Some not so good like replacing real leather with artificial, but having said i have thr leather armrest in the 335 touring, I found it scratches very easily so maybe putting artificial leather will make it a bit more durable. Definitely prefer the new black alloys to the previous ones!

I tend to agree, coming from a 335d F30 myself and some of the leather leaves a lot to be desired. I guess if we didn't read about the change we may not have known!

At first glance yesterday I couldn't tell the leather was fake and as suggested I'm guessing it will make the leather look and last longer.
I did open the glovebox and the plastic had a rather cheap feel to it, I'm hoping it's better than I thought.
No mention of the repositioned USB port which has moved from inside the armrest to under the multifunction touch sensitive buttons on the dash, a much better and convenient place to have it.
