New member saying HI

Post by pastry » Sun Aug 21, 2016 9:25 pm

Hi All.

Ive just come over from Z4-forum as we're a 2 BMW family  :) I bought a 2007 X3 Msport 3.0d earlier in the summer and attached are a couple of pictures from when I bought it. I do have one initial query, the rear pads and discs want changing and I was going to do this myself so which brands would you recommend?

Hello and :hi: aboard  :)

Eurocarparts do the pads and sensors.  BMW were using Pagid and rebadging the boxes.  Discs (if needed) may be either Pagid or Textar.  You only need one wear sensor as the system assumes both sides wear equally.  You can reuse as long as it hasn't triggered (can't be reset) but they are only about £12 so worth swapping out.

Thanks, I'll give them a try.  The sensor has been triggered so will need changing.  I like Textar more than Pagid so might see if they do Textar pads too.  Its been a long time since I've got my hands greasy so will test my memory  ;)

Hello Again

I fitted Textar in the end with a Pagid wear sensor both from Eurocarparts.  Do you know how to reset the dashboard wear sensor light or do I need to go to an Indy to have it done?  Its a 2007 car btw  :)

It should do a self-test when the ignition is off and the key is in the second position for approximately 1 minute.

Put key in ignition so lights on but not started
Keep it in for a minute
Turn off
Remove key
Put key back in and start
Light should go out

I had heard something similar but don't know of anyone who has actually done it.  Ive just tried that and it didn't work so wondering if the new sensor could be faulty

Possibility, I would disconnect then reconnect just to be sure it is seated right.
