Hi all,
My 3.0d facelift has always very slightly pulled to the left every now and then, always felt the steering was a little twitchy in a straight line. Recently it has started wearing the outer edge (inch) of the near side tyre, can anyone pin point the offending part?
cheers.

Re: 3.0d pulling slightly to left
Hi , did you ever get the steering alignment checked , or a 4 wheel alignment , every time i get new tyres i get mine checked helps tyres wear evenly and no pulling on steering or twitching .. C..

Hi colin,
Yes I took it for four wheel alignment and it was a bit out (mainly on the back), nothing much changed tho, nothing showed up on the MOT either, even asking them to give the front a good look over turned nothing up.
I am told that its quite difficult to diagnose subtle wear on the linkages due to the weight on it all, I am thinking about buying the whole kit for that side and fitting myself, any idea how easy it is to do?

Re: 3.0d pulling slightly to left
that would be a lot of expense and it might not cure the problem , and if it was me i would be doing both sides ,( mild ocd ) LOL , as for fitting unless your mechanically minded and have facilities i would leave it , i have a great mechanic he also has an X5 so thats where my X goes ..

Yeah, would buy both sides and to be honest they arent that dear, I'm pretty good on the spanners and as long as there are no special tools I should be ok?

Re: 3.0d pulling slightly to left
Hi Chelsea,
what size wheel are you running on? We have 20's for the summer and 18's for the winter. As you can guess there is a difference in the characteristic of each size.
On some of our roads the 20's have a mind of their own and follow the trenches left by Scanias. We too have ours pulling to the left now and again; not much but noticeable. A 4 wheel alignment on a Hunter laser showed all was well.
Keep an eye on tyre pressures but as for FNS tyre wear, whatever car you have this wheel takes the hardest wear - think roundabouts etc.
Hope you get it sorted

Hi Osprey,
Mine is running the standard 19" wheels and to be fair the front tyres have lasted 21,000 miles, the rears lasted approx 18,000 miles before the inner edges wore down, the rears wearing is possibly down to the radius arm bushes a bit slack, but they did have to adjust the rear up when I took it for alignment and 3k down the road they now seem to be wearing evenly.
This week, I have started getting a clunk/clack noise sometimes at the front when I come to a stop so defo something loose.
Going to leave it a bit longer and when ready for new fronts then I will do all the linkages before fitting new tyres, it's done 137k now so that should be the last time it will need anything up front?
cheers
