Old School Engine Tuning?

I've made a bit of a leap from a 2001 E46 to a 2012 F25.
Before that E46 I had a 1992 Clio and 1992 MR2 Turbo

The 90's cars particularly seem to have an endless supply of uprated parts from induction kits right through to uprated cams, manifolds, turbo's etc all right off the shelf. I spent thousands on that MR2!

I admit I haven't spent a huge amount of time looking, but it seems these days you're (we're) limited to a panel filter and a one size fits all map?

Or has anyone else done some serious tuning to the modern diesels?

You can probably get the bits from the US where the rules are less stringent.  Modern cars with their type approval regime, and the unhelpful insurance industry together with tuners needing a degree in computing haven't made it a big market here.

With little demand there a few parts available.  Even getting a service manual is tricky!

I work in insurance (not car insurance)
Modded car insurance isn't as hard to deal with as you think.
