Will F15 M Sport wheels fit E70 M Sport?

Post by DD96118 » Sat Aug 06, 2016 7:19 am

Hello all!

First time poster so apologies in advance. Just upgraded from boxster to 62' X5 30d M Sport. Very very happy with it (as is the wife with not being so close to the road!).

The alloys on the car (bought privately) are in poor condition - M Sport staggered alloys. Rather than refurbishing (I am not too keen on the design) I am considering replacing. Have seen a set of F15 M Sport 467 alloys and was wondering if these would fit. I have seen similar topics on here but not for the M Sport wheels. Details below, any help appreciated. Conscious of not ruining the drive or invalidating insurance.

Current

255/50R19
Rim: 9Jx19ET48

285/45R19
Rim: 10Jx19ET53

Potential replacement

255/50/R19
Rim: 9Jx19ET37

285/45/R19
Rim: 10Jx19ET31

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Hi there, I am by no means an expert on wheels and their off sets but I doubt they will fit.
I was about to buy an F15 set for my E70 from a BMW main dealer a few months back but checked with them first to see if they would fit. They advised me that although they would drop onto the hubs they would rub on turning the wheels to near full lock and in their view would therefore be dangerous.
I think your safest bet is to ring your BMW main dealer, give them the wheel code number and ask them to check if the wheels are compatible.
I think I posted on here also and someone gave me a link to a website whereby you enter your car model and chassis no etc and it will tell you your current wheel offset and then you put in the proposed wheel code and it will tell you that offset. Do a search on here.
If I find it I will post the link but I still recommend you talk to the dealer.

The other thing you need to check is the centre bore and bolt positions.  You need the same PCD measurement and centre bore - though the latter can be fixed.  If the bore is smaller then you need to machine them, if larger you need concentric spigot rings.

Thanks - of course you are correct. The PCD and CB are the same according to information online.

:ok:

That wasn't the case for E70/71 changes.....and needed careful checking.  Glad E70-F15 is easier :)

I have a set of F15 wheels on my E70, fitted no problem, went from 20s to 19s.

The above helpful link says that the F15 wheels will stick out 11mm more than the current e70 wheels due to the different offset. Will this cause any problems (inc with insurance)?

Also check that the tyre tread doesn't exceed the wheel arch limits.

Hi,

Did you manage to take a few snaps at the weekend?

Found a picture online last night of a E70 wearing 20" F15 alloys, but I want to avoid 20's to be honest.
