Hi folks[img]
Hi currently have a grey e46 m3 and looking to get a E70 to replace my trusty e53 3.0 24v m sport
Question is what's difference between the Se and Msport models as seen a few Se's that look even better than MSports, but what about spec and mechanical differences
Thanks

Hi M Sports have extended arches front and rear , normally body colour , Sports seats standard with Memory function , sports suspension , roof rails are flush and require their own specific roof bars as the Se version wont fit , Quite a lot were spec d with 20" alloys 315/35/20 rear and 275/40/20 , Satnavs . As they have sports suspension they can be hard on tyres , one rule of thumb I have when looking at a car is all the same premium tyres usually it can tell you if it has been a shoestring ownership aswell as service history .
I saw a low mileage 2011 E70 30D last week that was full service history in a none franchised dealer , full of stone chips , worn interior and steering wheel and 4 very cheap branded tyres none runflat that were all different makes so walked away .
There are lots of other differences and later version cars were Lci but some Se versions have had a lot of extras fitted at factory making them more attractive although some dealers try to demand the same prices as M Sports which generally cost 2.5k more when new .
X5 Sd & 35D were twin turbo , 6 speed .
X5 40D is a twin turbo car and came out in 2010 April with a 8 speed box , best one to go for !
X5 50D triple turbo .
X5M 4.4 litre Petrol monster .
good luck

You're not... selling the M3, surely!!
Don't do it! E46 = THE best of all the threes, EVER!!

What sid said is correct. I'm guessing what you mean by cars looking better than the M-sport models is the SE models equipped with the dynamic pack. This added side steps, roof rails, sports suspensions and front sport seats, with silver inserts into the unpainted inserts. They also had an aero kit which added diffusers at the front and rear, which is quite sought after on the market. I think extended wheel arches are part of the aero kit too.
