Retro fit head up display x5 e70

Post by Elec cert » Sat Apr 16, 2016 4:03 pm

Hi looking for a bit of advice, I am going to be fitting a head up display to my lci e70.
I have the hud, wiring loom, hud switch, light sensor and NCS expert to do the coding.

Need pointing in the right direction as regards to coding and any help would be appreciated.
I know the hud needs to be added to the VO does any one know what else would need coding

Many thanks

Gary

Have a search on bmwcoders dot co dot uk.  I don't know of anyone on this forum that has added it.

Have you also got the correct windscreen?  It's a special one for the HUD otherwise you will get double reflections.  The correct one has a special laminate profile (thicker at the bottom) and is triangular if cut in cross section vertically.  You won't get the reflections from each glass layer to coincide without it.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I have this option and love it
Also nice with the nav display on it too

Out of curiosity, are the dash blanked when not factory fitted so can uncover and add or will you need a new dash?

NCS expert, use expert mode profile, add option $610 to VO, write in CAS and FRM, code whole car as will be easier for you.

Seems like a lot of work for what is a very basic HUD display, the information and colour palette is very limited.

The f'series hud is much more comprehensive and visually better.

Saw one of these when I went to the dealers the other day:

looks good for (I think) about £450.

Hi

I think that's pretty good for the money and has more info than on my HUD current unit fitted to the car. And if You swop between those models you can take it with you for the next car.
