Newbie with some problems

Post by Sparsons2016 » Sun Jun 26, 2016 6:41 pm

Good afternoon all

I have just purchased a 2003 X5 3.0 petrol

Everything is great bar a couple of niggles

1 - air suspension inactive error sometimes when I start up..
2 - sat nav unit seems to lose constant power when ignition is off. I.e doesn't keep the time or date and starts up on the setup screen each time.
3 - auto lights remain on when I remove the key and never turn off after locking the car
4 - boot lid doesn't open using the rear latch on the boot itself. However using the key and button inside the car work just fine!
5 - cd changer in boot doesn't have any power at all when the ignition is off?? Is this normal??

Any help or pointers would be very gratefully received!!

Thanks

Boot lid switch not working could be a broken wire in right hand (as you stand looking into the boot)wiring boot
I replaced the whole switch unit but still didnt work, then found 3 broken cables in the above boot, rejoined and soldered them and then all ok

disc changer should have power when the ignition is turned off, i take it the tray won't eject and thats how your judging no power.  mine got stuck sometime ago and gave the impression it was electrically dead, took the unit out of the car and removed the case screws, cleaned the old grease of the mechanisms and gave a little new silicon grease on the workings, all works fine now.  taking the unit to bits isn't as bad as it sounds, nothing tries to escape and its pretty robust in their. i literally took the lid off and cleaned the gears and cogs.
