I have recently sent my ABS ECU Module off for a warranty refurb as it failed a year after being fixed (try light fault).
Anyway my car is sat outside and i have been afraid to run it with the module removed exposing the pots where the electronic board usually plugs in. I have some work that requires doing on my car and my local indy is going to sort for me, usual stuff, bushes and a gator thats torn. I asked him about driving it with the module removed and he err'd on the side of caution as he said he had no idea of impact. but i am sure i read something somewhere that it can be driven just the abs, traction control etc won't work. I'm not wanting to do a long journey but a couple of miles to the garage.
has anyone got experience or understand the system enough to know if it can be used with that removed, unfortunately a 9 month old and a mother back at work prevents me doing any work on my car otherwise i would attempt it myself.

Re: ABS ECU Module
Personally I wouldn't drive it for obvious reasons, can't the Indy that's fixing the car put it on a trailer or similar?
Re: ABS ECU Module
During the process of mine having it's work I was told that disconnecting the ABS/DSC module results in the system being wide open i.e. braking is fine. This makes sense as a braking system which fails due to an electrical fault in the braking system is unlikely to be fit for purpose. Don't take this as me saying drive it though.

Re: ABS ECU Module
will probably lean towards the cautious side, where its parked would need moving under its own power so would still be driving it to a trailerable location. Dan, makes sense that it would fail "safe" in a sense, but i have physically removed the abs module form the abs pump exposing parts of it rather than it just been unplugged or failed. i have no idea what the internals of the eco module do, there either pressure transducers or solenoids to activate the braking system or both, it seems enclosed and a capped system but will stick with leaving it where it is.
